The article considers the problem of developing physical qualities in girls aged 11–12 at the stage of initial training in athletics. Taking into account the physiological, psychological and age characteristics of girls in early adolescence, the feasibility of using athletics exercises as an effective means of comprehensive physical development is substantiated. The study involved 40 girls divided into control and experimental groups. For 12 weeks, girls in the experimental group were engaged in a specially developed program, which included exercises to develop speed, endurance, strength, flexibility and agility, while the control group worked according to the traditional school program. The dynamics of the physical condition of the participants was assessed according to the results of tests before and after the experiment. Statistically significant improvements in physical indicators were recorded in girls in the experimental group, in particular in tests for speed, endurance, strength endurance, coordination and flexibility. The results obtained indicate the effectiveness of a comprehensive approach to organizing athletics classes, taking into account the age characteristics of girls 11–12 years old. During the experiment, the participants’ interest in physical exercises increased, anxiety levels decreased, and discipline improved during classes. The article contains practical recommendations for building a training process and adapting athletics loads for girls of this age. The research materials may be useful for physical education teachers, coaches, methodologists, and educators working in the field of children’s sports and physical education. Prospects for further research are related to the analysis of the influence of various sports disciplines on the formation of physical qualities in schoolchildren of early adolescence, as well as the development of individualized training programs focused on the sexual and motivational characteristics of girls.
