The article analyzes the historical, cultural and technical aspects of the formation and development of Chinese traditional archery. The purpose of the study is to present a holistic analysis of the features of the formation and development of Chinese traditional (national) archery. The work reveals the stages of the evolution of this type of activity – from a hunting tool and military skill to an element of educational, ritual and sports culture. The stages of the development of this type of activity are traced – from a primitive hunting tool to a universal phenomenon that combines military art, moral and philosophical education and elements of sports practice. It is noted that even in the Zhou era, archery was part of the state education system, forming the concept of harmony of body and spirit. The features of the formation of the Chinese archery school in the context of the development of dynasties, spiritual teachings and warrior training systems are determined. It was found that archery in China performed not only utilitarian, but also educational and moral-philosophical functions, forming the ideal of a harmonious personality. The material and technological aspects of the manufacture of the Chinese bow, the types of designs, as well as the ritual features of competitions and ceremonies are analyzed. The contribution of famous schools and masters to the preservation of the technique and philosophy of shooting is highlighted. Special attention is paid to the process of modern revival of the tradition: the activities of the Chinese Traditional Bow Association (CTAA), the organization of seminars, championships and international festivals that contribute to the popularization of cultural heritage. The modern stage is characterized by the revival of traditions through the activities of associations, clubs and competitions, which contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage. It is proven that Chinese traditional archery combines physical, ethical and aesthetic components, serving as an example of the integration of cultural traditions into modern physical culture.
