Abstract

The problem of developing cognitive activity of schoolchildren is one of the key ones in modern psychological and pedagogical research. Activation of cognitive activity involves the formation of a positive attitude towards learning and stimulating students’ desire for a deeper mastery of the subject. Despite wide access to information resources, its excess often leads to passivity: students cease to show initiative, seek new knowledge and work creatively. Educational material is often perceived as “dry” and uninteresting, so it is important for the teacher to find ways to motivate and interest students. The growth of intellectual load in mathematics lessons encourages teachers to look for ways to maintain students’ interest in the subject and ensure their activity throughout the lesson. The use of educational infographics makes it possible to create an information environment that forms cognitive interest and engagement, and also facilitates the assimilation of material through the implementation of the principle of clarity. Modern pedagogical technologies should provide not only the necessary level of theoretical and practical knowledge, but also orient the educational process towards the development of the student’s personality, take into account his interests and motives, and create conditions for achieving the planned level of competencies. The activation of cognitive activity contributes to the emergence of a stable interest in learning, the formation of positive emotions, the application of the acquired knowledge in practice, the accessible processing of complex material, the differentiation of tasks in accordance with the individual capabilities of students, as well as the effective use of media educational technologies. The modern education system should correspond to the level of development of science and technology, prepare students for life and activity in the information society, which necessitates the need to increase the efficiency of the educational process. Thus, the relevance of the problem lies in the need to develop the cognitive activity of schoolchildren and the insufficient use of existing opportunities to improve this process. An important task remains the search for optimal conditions for the formation and development of students’ cognitive activity.
