THE MAIN FACTORS INFLUENCING THE PROFESSIONAL MOTIVATION OF DOCTORS IN THE TRANSCARPATHIAN REGION

Abstract

Objective: to assess the factors that affect the professional motivation of doctors at the regional level.
Materials and methods. The method of questionnaires studied the influence of various factors on the professional motivation of doctors of different specialties in the Transcarpathian region. Own questionnaires are based on the Likert scale.
Results. Based on a survey of 430 doctors of various specialties, it was found that only 21.0% (± 1.9) of respondents have a high level of professional motivation, in particular among doctors working in cities (37.2%) under the age of 35 (71.4%). 14% (±1.7) of respondents are completely unmotivated to practice medicine, 23.3% (±2.0) have a low level of professional motivation, in particular among respondents aged 45-50 (84.3%). The lowest levels of professional motivation were found among rural doctors (23.6%) under the age of 45. The main factors influencing its formation were: unstable economic situation in the country (81.4% (±1.9)), insufficient level of knowledge (32.5% (±2.3)), society's underestimation of medical activity (65.1%±2.3), there is a pandemic COVID-19 (55.8%±2.4).
Conclusions. Significant levels of low professional motivation were identified among doctors in the Transcarpathian region aged 45-50, in particular from rural areas (under 45). The biggest impact on its formation was the impact of economic instability in Ukraine, society's underestimation of medical activity and the existing COVID-19 pandemic, which must be taken into account when developing measures to retain and attract medical personnel.
