Abstract

Given the increasing incidence of community-acquired pneumonia, the aim of the study was to examine changes in the immune status of patients with community-acquired pneumonia, the role of imbalances in cytokines that regulate intercellular interactions of all immune systems.
Were examined twenty adult patients with community-acquired pneumonia who were in the therapeutic department of the Kharkiv City Clinical Hospital № 25. The diagnosis was established on the basis of epidemiological, clinical, laboratory, radiological data. Patients were examined in accordance with the Medical Standards of the National Institute of Phthisiology and Pulmonology named after Yanovsky F. G. of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. An important link in the pathogenesis of community-acquired pneumonia is changes in both cellular and humoral links of general immune status, which is manifested in a marked decrease in the number of total mature T-lymphocytes (CD3+) and helper T-lymphocytes (CD4+); in increasing T-suppressors (CD8+) and decreasing the relative number of B-lymphocytes (CD20+). The most pronounced changes in the body’s immune system in community-acquired pneumonia are manifested mainly in the cellular part of the immune system. For the successful treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, it is advisable to prescribe, in addition to standard therapy, tonics and immunocorrective drugs.
