LEVEL OF INTERNET-ADDIDCTION OF STUDENT’S YOUTH (ACCORDING TO SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH)

Abstract

Goal of study: to determine the level of internet-addiction of the students of higher educational institutions.
Materials and methods. 450 students were questioned in the course of sociological study with the application of Young test and the assessment of the results according to Likert scale.
Results and conclusions. It was determined in the course of sociological study that a high level of internet-addiction is found at 11.4% of surveyed male students and 11.7% of female students. The intermediate level of internet-addiction is found at 20.9% of both male and female surveyed students. At the same time, high-level of internet-addiction ranges from 8.7% among the second-year students to 13.5% among the fourth-year students with the maximum difference of indicator 4.8%. The intermediate level of internet-addiction ranges from 17.4% among the second-year students to 26.8% among the third-year students with the maximum difference of indicator 9.4%.
The following highest levels of Internet activities were determined at the students having the high level of internetaddiction: on-line games (39.5%), communication in chats (39.4%), search of educational information (31.6%), while the students with intermediate level of internet-addiction have the following highest levels of Internet activities: search of educational information (54.7%), communication in chats (41.8%), on-line purchases (32.9%).
