Abstract

Purpose. The purpose of this research was to analyze the level of awareness and attitudes of general practitioners towards the management of patients with type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), associated manifestations of depression, and to identify barriers in psychosocial care at the primary healthcare level. Particular attention was paid to defining strategies for improving care for these patients. Materials and methods. The study employed a cross-sectional analysis and anonymous survey of 42 general practitioners (GPs) in the Transcarpathian region. The survey responses were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively, with Jamovi software utilized for statistical data processing. Results. The findings revealed a significant interest among physicians in training and development in the field of managing patients with type 2 diabetes, NAFLD, and depression, although gaps in knowledge and resource availability were also identified. There was a noted need for the enhancement of educational programs and the introduction of more effective screening tools. Conclusions. The study's conclusions underscore the need for integrated efforts to improve the quality of care for patients with type 2 diabetes, NAFLD, and concomitant depression, to increase adherence to treatment, and to improve the overall health status and well-being of this patient category.
