THE ROLE OF THE STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CLUB OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN THE FORMATION OF RESEARCH SKILLS AMONG STUDENTS OF HIGHER MEDICAL EDUCATION

Abstract

The article examines the pedagogical potential of the student scientific club of the Department of Foreign Languages in developing research skills among students of higher medical education. The relevance of the early involvement of future medical professionals in research activity is substantiated as an important component of their professional training. The significance of the student scientific club as an educational environment is revealed, in which students gradually gain experience in independently selecting a problem, formulating a research question, defining aims and objectives, searching for and analyzing scientific sources, processing terminological material, preparing presentations, writing abstracts, and presenting research findings at student conferences. Two interrelated areas of work of the student scientific club of the Department of Foreign Languages are distinguished: the study of Latin medical terminology and the formation of English and German medical terminology. It is noted that Latin serves as a tool for analyzing the structure, origin, word formation, and semantics of medical terms, while modern foreign languages provide access to the international scientific information space, and research activity creates conditions for the practical application of acquired knowledge. The important role of the academic supervisor as consultant, moderator, and coordinator of research activity is identified. Pedagogical conditions for the effective organization of the club’s activities are outlined, including the individualization of research tasks, mentoring, interdisciplinarity, gradual increase in task complexity, involvement of students in real scientific outputs, and academic integrity. It is noted that the systematic work of the student scientific club contributes to the development of independence, critical thinking, academic integrity, scientific communication, and motivation for professional and scientific growth among students of higher medical education.
