THE ROLE OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN THE FORMATION OF OPENNESS AND VALUE ORIENTATIONS OF THE PERSONALITY OF FUTURE SPECIALISTS (NON-LINGUISTIC SPECIALTIES)

Abstract

The article highlights the importance of the role of a foreign language in the formation of openness and value orientations of the personality of future specialists. It is emphasized that openness (open-mindedness) is a fundamental psychological quality that involves the ability to take alternative views seriously, review one's own social, political or religious values, and respect differences. The humanistic education system requires a revision of the goals of studying foreign languages, where the priority is not only the transfer of knowledge, but also the development of value orientations and intellectual culture of the student. The social demand of modernity for the formation of a tolerant, impartial personality highlights the need for pedagogical technologies that help overcome isolation within the national mentality and ensure readiness for interaction in the global semantic space. A foreign language in modern higher education ceases to be perceived only as a formal discipline, turning into a powerful means of joining universal human values ??and a fundamental component of national security and intellectual capital of the state. The key way to realize the openness of the individual is an honest and open dialogue, which does not eliminate the uniqueness of individual existence, but on the contrary – affirms it through mutual recognition of the semantic value of the other. A foreign language makes it possible to see ways of expressing thought that are different from the native language, other connections between form and meaning, which allows for a deeper understanding of certain phenomena in the native language. An important object of educational influence on the formation of value orientations of the personality of students when learning a foreign language is the culture of communication. The culture of communication is determined by the degree of responsibility of the speaker and the norms of communication, behavior, and modern rules of speech etiquette adopted in a certain language community.
